  1. I am new to the whole copying of DVD's and I am having problems lol. The files I have are all in AVI format and my DVD player won't play them. So I got hold of a converter and converted them into DVD format and then put them onto a DVD disk. I have both DVD-R and DVD+R because I didn't know which format I needed. When I put the files onto DVD-R as a dvd file they play on my DVD player but the sound and the video are out of sync. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to put the files in a particular order for them to play correctly?

From start to finish which programs did you use? It would also help if you posted a Gspot screenshot of the original AVI file that went out of sync when you converted.
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect.

    No, but you must:
    A) Use AVI files suitable for conversion. Avoid AVI with VBR audio, for example.
    B) Use a good converter. If reading lots of guides (found under CONVERT left) is not your cup of tea, try convertx2dvd. Or better yet: Get a player that plays AVI. The price is about the same.

  4. I've using Nero. I think it's Nero 6 as it came pre-installed into my PC when I bought it 2 years ago. I've since found out that it doesn't matter if I use DVD+R or DVD-R as both play on my DVD player but both play out of sync.

I have noticed though, that on Nero, you get 2 folders and it tells you to put the files in the video folder. Am I supposed to put the sound files in the sound folder?

Nope. It's just there for compatibility reasons. But:
Forget about Nero. All it's (possibly) good for, is to burn stuff to disk. Nothing else.
I repeat my advice from previous post: either use convertx2dvd, or get a player that plays AVI. The latter is the best choice.

  6. Unfortunately, buying a new DVD player is not an option for me right now.... if I could afford a new dvd player, I'd be buying the DVD's from the shops rather than getting them illegally lol

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.
This site is not about getting help with illegaly obtained material. Read the rules again.

Such honesty is liable to get you into SERIOUS trouble on these forums. I would advise against such statements (I mean the end of your post) in the future.

Here in the colonies, we can get the Philips DVP-642 for $60 US or less. I'm sure similar players are available in the UK.

  8. Im sure there are unfortunately, things are not quite as cheap over here as they are in the states.. take windows vista for example... £200 it costs us... it costs you a lot less than that but thats a whole different subject
