Every time I burn a KVCD it will not play on my DVD player. All others work fine Divx, AVI and all that, just not KVCD. I am running the latest build of svcd2dvdmpeg. Any ideas?

Sure, quit using KVCD. It's a non-standard format and that is probably the reason your player doesn't like it. Why KVCD format anyway? Try SVCD, it's still fairly compact and if your player accepts the format, then it should look as good as KVCD.

But if your player works with Divx/Xvid, that would be even a better solution.

I'd imagine it's because it's a non compliant disc, even there own chart has many DVD that they won't work or need a specific resolution or some other hoop you have to jump through.

Considering you can get something like 7 hours of compliant MPEG on single layer disc why even mess with it.

  5. If your player plays Divx files it almost certainly plays bare MPG files. Instead of creating a KVCD just burn the MPG file to an ISO CD or DVD. This is much more likely to work than an out-of-spec VCD.

It may reject that too, I was messing around with some really low bitrate authored MPEG2's. Lowest my encoder would allow me to go was something like 450 and the player didn't like it but it did play it with some issues. Played fine on the computer.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I was curious because a lot of is coming out as kvcd, and I was wondering if I was doing something wrong or if there was a way to make it work. Like if there is another conversion tool to use.

Nothing legitimate comes out as KVCD.

Why ? Because it is non-standard, and because you can get equal or better quality in the same file size using Xvid or Divx, and even better with H.264, and not have the compatibility and playback issues.
