Hi everyone, I am really new at video converting, and I kinda hate it since it takes soo much time, but I have a question.

I just downloaded a TV Show thats in 720p, the resolution is 1280 x 720, but the file is in MKV format. The only problem is that the PS3 only supports MP4 videos.

The file that I have is 1.07GB and it would take waaaay tooo much time to convert, so is there a faster method to turn this into a PS3 playable file?

    Here's the file information:

    Format: x264/AC-3
    Runtime: ~42 min
    Video Bitrate: 3.1mbit
    Resolution: 1280x720 (720p)
    Fps: 23.976
    Bits/pixel: ~.142
    Audio: 5.1 Dolby Digital AC-3 @ 384kbps

You could demux the video to raw and remux to mp4. I believe that Nero are adding AC3 to their mp4 specs to, however I am not sure if anything is capable muxing AC3 to private streams yet, (or playing it back) so you would need to re-encode to aac.

Next question would be whether the PS3 can handle 720p presumably High Profile AVC.

Wow, that sounds soo much better than having to re-encode the whole video. If I understood you correctly, you are basically saying that I gotta split the audio and the video, and then re-encode just the audio into AAC, and then combine the video into one again, or as you say it "remux"

To answer your next question, I don't know what you mean by "High Profile AVC", but the PS3 supports MPEG-4 AVC videos in any resolution upto 1080p.
