So are you using SoftEncode for your AC-3 encoding?

I mean you mention SoftEncode but you also point to a guide that makes no mention of SoftEncode so ... I am confused. Actually the guide does mention it but gives no instructions on how to do it with anything but BeSweet.

So please verify if you have SoftEncode or not. If you are using SoftEncode then I can post instructions but I don't feel like doing that unless you have it.

I used Besweet to convert and had no problem on my DVD player. Some people claim that it will not work on all players, so I guess you just have to try.

If you want to use Besweet download BeLight GUI for Besweet.
    It is easy to use.

    Hello !!!

Sorry but I've been busy ...

OK first off you need a 16-bit 48k 2 channel LPCM WAV audio file. Some popular audio programs include Audacity, GoldWave and SoundForge. I tend to use GoldWave myself.

Now make sure that your WAV file is normalized. You have two choices here. Some will normalize to 0.0db while other people will normalize to -3.0db

I'd go with 0.0db if the audio file has a very "wide" dynamic range meaning that there are only a few peaks here or there that actually get that "high" and most of the time it is less than that. If your WAV file doesn't have a "wide" dynamic range then you probably are better off going with a -3.0db setting for your normalize setting. I think Audacity defaults to -3.0db whereas other program like GoldWave allow you to pick whatever you want.

If you RIGHT CLICK on your WAV file you should see something like this:

Anyways once you have your proper WAV file and it is normalized to your likely just load it into Soft Encode. You will see something like this:

    After you load it:

Now go to OPTIONS at the top and under that click on ENCODE SETTINGS. You will see the following:

You will want to set up your setting to match mine. The only thing in question here is what bitrate you want to use. 256kbps is the "sweet spot" for 2 channel audio. However you can use 192, 224, 256 or 320 with the higher the number the better (less compression). You can use 384 or 448 but those are really "overkill" for 2 channel audio.

Now click on the PREPROSSING TAB and set it up as follows:

Now you shouldn't have to touch the TIME CODE TAB but for the record it should look like this:

Now click on OK ... Go to FILE at the top and under that select ENCODE and do this:

That is all there is to it!

Well what was the source? You said you "extracted" it ... but from what?

Can you read the PCM file using an audio editing program such as GOLDWAVE or AUDACITY or SOUNDFORGE etc.?
