Camcorder Tape remaining time indicator failure

Hi,
I have a JVC GR-D370 bought few months ago. The Tape remaining time indicator doesn't display tape remaining time. The dotted line is alway blinking, even after inserting a new cassette. Don't remember if this problem is new or is a default from the beginning. Any solution?

If it's only a few months old, take it back under warranty. They should tell you if it's a fault or a setting you've missed.
