Probably audio has been converted from mp2 to LPCM audio, which takes up lots & lots of space. But almost 4 GB audio, sounds like too much even so...

You are working with low res source, so I assume you are looking at a long running time. LPCM eats around 675MB / hour, so 6 hours is around 4 GB. CW 224 kbps MPA or AC3 @ 98 MB / hour. What is the tota running time of the disc ?

What is your audio file format, it sounds like LPCM. Convert Audio to AC3 or MPA with lower bitrate rate (224 or 192).

What is the media (media ID and brand would be good) ?
Have you tried DVD Info Pro's speed test or Nero Drive Speed on the disc after burning ?

I would demux the audio and encode with ffmpeggui or aftengui (I prefer AC3 to mpeg1-layer2)

Poor source (video or audio), poor burning, poor media, poor players. Without having access to the source files, or knowing what brnad disc you are using, it is impossible to say. I know that all the discs I have created with DLP play in a variety of players, but I use either full or half D1, not VCD res, and good quality encoders. I also burn to good quality discs.
