All indications are this application is working correctly. Green light begins blinking on the capture device when I click on PREVIEW. Device Manager recognizes DVD Xpress B hardware. The user interface functions normal without returning error messages and it will write a file to the hard drive or to a DVD and finalize it. However, the file is devoid of any content. You can play it back, but it is a black screen without sound - even with other software. The play back period equals the recording, so it's either recording and writing a null file or recording signal is null. The cable is using the composite connector. I gather the cable is okay, or the Device Manager couldn't recognize the capture device. Should there be a particular port address for this input? How would I check it?
Thanks for any advise you can offer.

NEVER MIND - Some times it helps to think through it if you write it down and then it becomes obvious. So if every thing works and the output signal is NULL - maybe I have connected to the INPUT jacks - DA.
As Sherlock says - When you've eliminated everything that's impossible, then you have your answer, no matter how improbable.
I can't believe I just spent all this time drilling down through diagnostics and nothing said, 'hey, dummy - check the back of the VCR player!'Swamp Blazer in St. Augustine, FL
