Hello,
The dv port is an input only on the panasonic machines, and I guess probably also on other machines. To get something you've recorded out to a PC, the easiest way is to dub it onto a DVD (if the high-speed dubbing mode works, then it won't be re-encoding it, so you'll be getting an exact copy of the video that was on the hard disk). Then, the PC should be able to see the .VOB files on the DVD, which are just MPEG2 files, which lots of software will accept.
