Someone told me that these two programs is all I need to decrypt copy written dvds and make perfect burns...

I was wondering what is everyone's opinions of these programs, and if you know something better i should get for starting out, let me know.

I don't know about perfect, but they work with pretty much every movie I've thrown at them. They are the easiest to use, although the quality you get with CloneDVD2 is a mixed bag at times. I would definitely not call them the 'best'. Easiest, n00b-friendly... yes.

I don't really know all the other programs that people use around here for that sort of thing... Search around the forums and you'll see that there other solutions to be had. Try a few of them and see what works best for you.

What makes you say that CloneDVD2 is a "mixed bag" in terms of quality? It never managed to screw anything I've seen. Just curious.

I've done side-by side comparisons with DVDShrink and CloneDVD backups. Generally, I see more compression artifacts on CloneDVD disks than on ones done with shrink. Then again, since I'm looking for them... that may be why. Don't get me wrong, clone backups look fine, but could be better, you know? I find that shrink in deep analysis mode looks better than clone but takes much longer, at least the last time I checked. I don't know, that was about 2 computers ago... maybe I should try some comparisons again.

That's what I meant by a "mixed bag". Possibly a poor choice of words. Maybe I should sleep more and spend less time on the damn computer.
