    Hey guys,

I'm using my 37" HDTV right now as my monitor for my PC, but for some reason, I can't get the resolution above 1024x768. This is kind of odd, seeing as my 19" monitor is 1280x960 (I'm using dual monitors). HDTVs are used as monitors all the time, but how do you get the resolution higher?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Have you told the PC that the monitor is a HDTV ?
What is the native resolution of the HDTV ?

I'm not exactly sure what the Native Resolution is...larger than this, I know that much. How do I go about telling the PC that this is a HD tv?

Some so-called HDTVs have resolution as low as 854 x 480, and 1024 x 768 is out of the question either. 1366 x 768 is more likely though. You can tell it what type of monitor you are using under Display Settings -> Advanced -> Monitors.

  5. What input are you using? Is that input speced for full resolution? My 1080p TV supports only up to 1366 x 768 on the PC input. The only way to get full resolution is using the HDMI connection.

for some reason, when I go to where you told me to go...it says my monitor is a "Generic PnP" monitor. There really isn't anything in that screen to tell it it's a HD TV

I'm using a VGA input. Same as my other monitor. Not sure how to connect my PC to TV with HDMI.

If the monitor has specific requirements, it should identify itself to windows. If it doesn't, then you are probably getting as good as you will.

  9. Check the manual/specs what resolution is supported on the VGA input.
