    Hi
I have a idvd16dd, which I use as a external using a USB case. I have used it successfully to write DVD's from this drive on DVD-R, DVD+R,

    DVD-RW.
Just recently (without any firmware upgrade. using Version: A091 ), it started to fail on writing on any DVD media I have. I was successful in

only 1 writes on a DVD-R, out of my last 20+ attempts. I like to use RW media but NERO will stop recognizing the drive itself when I insert a

RW media. I have posted a log below - I compiled the whole thing and just before pressing BURN, I inserted the below listed RW media.

Now while using this drive as external, I have a case, which I also swap to use for a 200gb internal hard drive. while reconnecting the dvd

writer, I make sure all connections are tight.

I also tried to update Firmware to A190- but still the same problem

Several problems there, and I may be missing some:

    E: CdRom1: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1135)
    Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
That's the main error. It could be DMA is off for that burner, but I don't how that relates to a external burner. It may be just because of the media not being recognized from the 'Media Specific' problem listed below.

    CdRomPeripheral : TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2102 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
This says your DVD-ROM is not in DMA mode either. Not really related to your burner or Nero, but it will slow down reads and CD writes. But that's a internal drive, so again, not sure how it relates.

    Media Specific [16..63]:
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
This one is pretty straight forward. Your drive doesn't recognize your media. That may be the cause of the medium error above. If it works with other media without this error, then something else is involved. Otherwise, this usually means you need a firmware upgrade.

Most all the information about these errors is in the Digital Digest page for Nero errors: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45942
