When i try to join two .avi files there is a problem... the file joins but there is only half of the second file, sometimes it cuts off, and sometimes it carries on playing but the counter stops. And when i convert to dvd it stops where the counter stops.
I've tried making the name shorter and removing numbers and symbols as i've heard that can be a problem, but it's still happening. Does anyone know of this problem and a solution.. I've reinstalled ffmpegx and the binaries but the problem is still there. It doesn't do it all the time just on every 5/6 file and only on certain files, for example it won't not do it once then will work on second attempt.. It happens every time with some files and never with others

What codecs are being used in the .avi files?
    are they both the same?
What happens if you join via copy/paste in Quicktime Pro?

  4. This is a known bug in ffmpegX. Use D-Vision 3 and you'll be fine.

ok, ac3 requires the proper codec to be installed in Quicktime PRO. Try that with it installed, you should then be fine.
