    Welll long story short.
I just got a Philips 20PF5320F... 20" wide screen. And we already had a Yamada DVD-Mi220X
    A HDMI Dvd player.
So I bought a HDMI-DVI cable off ebay so I could connect the Dvd player to the DVI port on the TV, to get a better picture.
And, for some reason it doesn't work.
    Anyone help me out?

    Thanks in advance.

This PDF lists all the supported formats for the TV.

Try DVD player at 720x576p and 1280x720p. Use whichever looks best to you.

    Dear edDV:
Thanks, but my DVD recorder is not Philips but Panasonic DMR-ES25S. Guess, my question should have been this: Are any problems anticipated if one uses a HDMI to DVI-D cable to reap the benefits of HDMI upconversion feature of this recorder? My LCD HansG monitor has a DVI-D interface, in addition to a VGA interface.
    Best regards,

  5. edDV was not saying you had a Phillips player he was refering to your Phillips TV. He is saying that link shows that your TV set supports PAL and Secam standards. IOWs it appears you are in the US but bought a PAL TV Set? If you can set DVD player output to 720p or 1080i it looks like it might work.

Try to be more specific with model numbers. You said you had a Yamada DVD-Mi220X DVD player. That is also a PAL model.

The Panasonic DMR-ES25S appears to be an NTSC model.

    Oh, you aren't Stu_

  7. Dear edDV & TBoneit:
Appreciate your replies. Yes, the Panasonic DMR-ES25S DVD recorder is NTSC model.
My 1st question is: Are any problems anticipated if one uses a HDMI to DVI-D cable to reap the benefits of HDMI upconversion feature of this recorder? My LCD HansG monitor has a DVI-D interface, but no HDMI.
My 2nd question is: Will a NTSC DVD recorder, like the Panasonic DMR-ES25S DVD recorder, accept composite video input in PAL format? The PAL format video signal can be fed to the DVD recorder from a separate PAL VCR's "video out" connection. The 2nd question is very important to me!
    Shall appreciate answers from anyone.
    Best regards,
    Sam Osborne

Are you talking about a computer monitor? It is unlikely to work unless the manual lists 720p support.

VCR's are NTSC, PAL or Multi-standard. Check the spec.
