    Hello

I was hoping someone could help me with this problem. I downloaded ffmpegx hoping to convert some .flv files into .mov so that I could import them into Final Cut Pro. I installed ffmpegx no problem along with the necessary binaries. After downloading the .flv files off youtube I used ffmpegx to convert them. The program supposedly succes fully converted them, but when I try plaing them I get a screen saying error playing movie. Checking the file it states that it is 0kb in size. I am using os x 10.4 and from what I understand there are some security issues with mplayer so this could be causing problems.

I was hoping that someone on here might know a work around or another program or maybe what I might be doing incorrectly with ffmpegx.

    thanks for any help.

Please post the log () to see what error is causing the conversion to fail.

  3. I'm having the same problem, so I'll post my log:

Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
    Seems that stream 1 comes from film source: 1000.00 (1000/1) -> 29.97 (30000/1001)
    Input #0, flv, from '/Volumes/LaCie Disk/Movies/music vids/youtube/WASPIWannabesomebody.flv':
    Duration: 00:03:51.2, bitrate: N/A
    Stream #0.0: Audio: mp3, 22050 Hz, mono
    Stream #0.1, 29.97 fps(r): Video: flv, yuv420p, 320x240
Codec type mismatch for mapping #0.0 -> #0.0

I'm also having trouble with trying to convert rm. files to mov. aswell (I've added the reallib folder to the library, and followed all the other instructions), the realplayer movie files open and play in ffmpegx but they just don't convert, this is the log for one:

Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
    [NULL @ 0x45a630]Unsupported video codec
    Input #0, rm, from '/Users/Mands/Desktop/picturebox1980s.rm':
    Duration: 00:00:31.8, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 145 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Audio: cook, 44100 Hz, mono, 32 kb/s
    Stream #0.1, 12.00 fps(r): Video: RV30 / 0x30335652, 160x120, 117 kb/s
    Stream #0.2: Data: 0x0000
Codec type mismatch for mapping #0.0 -> #0.0

All other file types seem to work fine, is it because these are low quality movies off YouTube, etc?
I'm a complete newbie to this so apologies if I'm missing something glaringly obvious!

  4. S'okay I've been reading through various threads and it seems I was using the wrong setting! Duh! All working great now!
    Grr...

    Sorry...another novice here...
"Codec type mismatch", I've installed the three Unix encoders. OSX 10.4.8. Please guide...I'm happy to register once I can get it to work. (youtube flv download via KeepVid.com)...I want to take it into iMovie.

This is a frequently asked question. Most often, this can be fixed by setting Invert mapping in the audio tab.

I found a VERY easy answer to this very problem.

I already have Quicktime Pro (I use it for all sorts of digital video conversion situations) but of course QT can't play FLV (Flash Video) files natively. Problem solved. I discovered Perian, a free Quicktime extension that gets installed as a Preference Pane. Once Perian I had installed Perian, not only could I play FLV files (tested it on some You Tube videos), but I could then Export the video from QT using any of QTs many formats.

Except for the initial cost of Quicktime Pro, the cost was zero and the conversion was flawless, plus it is about as easy as it gets. I highly recommend this method.
