While I am far from a pro, Shit I'm far from amatuer, I can probably say that TMPGEnc is better at encoding mpg1, if that is what you mean. At least from my reading that seems to be the popular opinion. mpg2 it appears would be CCE

ive used tmpg encoder for a while now but it keeps makin the films stick about every 20 mins or so on my dvd player, used u lead dvd factory and that was ok only stuck once or twice but just wanted some input::cheers

TMPGEnc and Panasonic MPEG Encoder are probably the two best MPEG-1 encoders at standard VCD bitrates and settings.

What is your bitrate? Are you making standard vcds, or Xvcds?

I'm NO pro. But for the price (FREE) TMPEGnc rocks the house for all I do. I make xVCD's with a variable bitrate of 300-2520 with an average of 1444. This puts about an hour on each disc for me...

im just makin standard vcds they keep sticking and going out of sync it gets you down when they are takin 6,7,8,hours to make (cheers)

What method are you using to do your conversion? What are you doing exactly?

im using tmpg encoder opening up the file, seeing what frame rate it is then loading the correct template, then selecting full screen and just encoding the movie?????in highest quality

Okay...
What are the settings/specs of your source file? Framerate? Audio codec? etc.

here goes dont know if u mean these
size640-366
aspect ratio 1:1(vga)
frame rate 23.796 fpsec
constant bitrate
bitrate1150 -
Okay.
When you encoded your DivX with TMPGEnc, did you load the NTSC-FILM VCD template? Your framerate is 23.976 fps (NTSC-FILM) and so you should choose the NTSC-FILM template.
If you used the standard NTSC VCD template (29.97 fps), then TMPGEnc would have had to do a framerate conversion (which never works out well) can could lead to sync problems...
Furthermore, for encoding DivX sources, it may work better to decode the source audio to uncompressed PCM WAV first...

yes ive done that correct i think your right about decoding the audio first(do i need any software for that job thanks)

You should be able to do it with VirtualDub.
