Just caught the tail end of a show Criss Angel Mindfreak??? The guy walked across a large pool of water in broad daylight with a camera in his hand and another camera near him in the water and with someone swimming underneath him at one point. Were they all in on this illusion? I didn't see anyone actually cross his path while he walked though. If someone had walked ahead all the way it would have been amazing. A person could have swam underneath a glass ramp so that made me suspicious that everyone avoided the path in front of him they all stood to the side.
He also made someone disappear from a lawn chair with nothing close by to hide. He just covered them with a blanket and voila they were gone.
Any one have an idea. If it was a glass ramp then all the spectators would have to be shills.

I think I know the one you are talking about. I'm almost 100 percent sure anyone IN the water was in on it. Perhaps glass like tiles all the way from one end to another. The peopl OUT of the water may NOT have been in on it and so they gave the better reactions IMO. Still, it's pretty cool.
Edit - Notice the people around him in the water. I think they are there to protect him from people trying to get in his way.SmileSmile

That's the guy.
Someone once made a jet and an elephant disappear but then it leaked out that they had used mirrors on the tv camera and in another case they used 2 identical but separate rooms and just switched the video feed from one room to the other.
If this is all the guy does then anyone could do it. When I bought my first video camera I used it to tape a friends anniversary and his son and I did a disappearing trick where he is in frame I paused the camera he steps out of frame and I resume so he is gone. We repeat this with him back in frame he throws out his arms and goes tada!!! just as I resume the record and it looks like he just re-apppeared. It looked pretty convincing considering we just did this little spoof spontaneously.
It seemed like those in the pool were in on it and maybe used to hide some cross members supporting the submerged ramp. At least that's my guess. -

That's all magic is. Its all an illusion. If you think the handkerchief that he puts into his hand really disappears... then I don't know what to say.
The bigger the illusion, the more planning goes into it. There is no way something that big can be done and those people that are in it are not in on the whole thing. His name was MackemX
What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend? -

Now if you ever get a chance to see a good party trick or two inperson, you will be entertained! A guy at college was GREAT! Just doing card tricks that I know were slight of hand, he blew me and everyone in the room away!
10" away or 6' away with people all around and everyone knowing that there is no such thing as magic, nobody there could figure out how he did his tricks. Some of the funest times I ever had.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
love Penn & Teller. I especially love when they did the cups and ball trick with clear plastic cups. They supposedly did that to teach you how the trick is done. The problem is that they did it way too fast. Odd things started popping up under the cups.

I agree - they show that there's more to magic than just being confused on how it's done, they show the skill and the art in performing the illusion.
I know many do not like them for this reason - they show how the illusions are done. This is quite funny really... An illusion isn't as good if you know it isn't real?? LOL - we already know it isn't real. -

They put a piece of clear acrylic plastic about a half inch below the surface of the water. You can't see it and you can walk on it, somebody can swim under it. Old, you don't even need a computer to special effect it.
