  1. OK this is the story. I have a HP CD-WRiter 8200 series. I just downlaoded Nero 5.5 because i was reading the instructions on how to convert MPEG to VCD from this site. Everything was going good. i converted the MPEG's to MPEG-1 vcd format with TMPG. ALso i open up the demo for nero 5.5. Now this is when the trouble starts. IT says that it only can detect my Image recorder...wat da heck? is that suppose to happen? or is it suppose to detect my HP cd-writer instead? well when i try to burn something it burns an MPEG to something called "IMAGE" and what is that? i never seen that before...ok basically i need help. cuz the program wont detect my recorder and only detects a "image recorder" i need help thanks thanks and many thanks

  2. Hp cd writer 8200 series is supported in Nero 5.5 versions (even i have the same writer- )

I use Nero 5.5.6.4 (open Nero >click help >about nero check version number.) I have also dloaded from nero site the nero.cfg file and put in nero directory.

please check clearly the nero page (also a new verion is available). You will find an answer to your problem.

i guess u have a USB external writer. then remove usb cord and again reinsert the usb cord into the Pc (try other usb ports as well).

Image drive is just a virtual drive (a non existant drive) that Nero creates while installing the program. try not to remove it. there is no need to worry about. In nero program window, click on recorder > then choose reocreder >select your writer form the list ! its simple.

you can also email me for futher problems at ankush24@rediffmail.com[/quote]

  3. Somehow I remember Replying to a similar post before <G>

I believe you are experiencing the same problem quit a few others have experienced in the past. The problem you are experiencing most likely will not be answered By Tech support at Nero. It is a touchy subject between Microsoft and Adaptec and has to do with the ASPI layer within Windows

Here is a link to a site that explains the problem. If you follow there instructions I’m sure you will be able to get your Hp writer Up and running. I had the same problem with my Hp writer and the suggestions at this site solved the problem
