    Hello,

I had an avi file that I couldnt hear properly so with advice from this forum I used avigain to fix the audio. The file played fine on the pc but wont once burned to disc and played in my dvd player. I tried converting it to divx and also used divfix but still no luck. It plays for about 15 seconds with no audio then freezes in exactly the same spot each time.

What does Gspot 2.60 say about the file? It sounds like the audio is out of spec for your player.

Gspot 2.7 says this. Not sure if that tells us anything though.

    DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI
    AVI v1.0
    Interleave: 1 vid frame (33 ms), preload=504
    Audio frames: Aligned on interleaves

Hmmm. Do you have the original AVI ? AVIgain doesn't touch your source, it creates a new file with the louder audio track.

Also, are you sure the disk you burned to is OK ?

Also, the video is packed bitstream, which doesn't work with all DivX Players

Yes the disc is fine, ive had several attempts at it and I used good quality discs. I dont have the originals as once I checked them on my PC I deleted the originals and copied the avigain copies back into the folder where the orignals were. Yes stupid I know but once it played okay on my pc I thought it would be fine on disc.
Is there anyway I can fix them?

Sure you can use packed bitstream in your player ?

Unpack it with this and try another burn of the unpacked file. We'll get it working....

I'm putting together a file fixer for you. Gimme an hour or so to test it.

No problemo. Hopefully, it'll resolve your issue, but regardless, we'll figure it out through a bit of trial and error. The very positive part of all this is that the files will play on your PC- that means they can be modified in some manner to play on your DVD player.

    http://www.bestsharing.com/files/Qxq0a240470/AVI_Fixer.rar.html

Just do one file at a time. Remember, the input file can't have spaces in the name:

    Bad: This is My.AVI
    Good: This_Is_My.AVI

When the process is done, the "fixed" file will be named Fixed-your_old_file_name.AVI

Give it a whirl. Post the results. As I mentioned, this is the first attempt at making the file playable. Remember Edison and the Lightbulb....
