When I tried converting a .avi to a .m2v using TMPGEnc one time, I noticed the .m2v came out all jittery. When Setting the Output, if you make the Video mode Progressive instead of 3:2 pulldown playback for NTSC movies and convert it, the .m2v plays much more smoothly.
