    Hello everyone,

I'm desperate, and looking for advice. I sent two reels (apprx 500ft) of 8mm tape to be converted and placed on DVD to a company called VideoSilo (videosilo.com) in October of last year (2006).

They still have my reels, and have never shipped me a dvd. I'm now getting no response whatsoever from them. I've tried their 800 telephone number listed on their site. No luck. I've tried several different email addresses, no luck. I think this company is a scam. And now I'm out $163 and irreplaceable footage of my childhood.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

Thanks so much for any info or direction anyone here can give.

deesine, I have watch that company for several years and saw so many complaints. First thing , there are so many people who got rip off. You need check there resume. Videohelp is a good way of seeing if the company legit or not. By word of mouth if the company sucks someone will write about it. But being that its a year old, I doubt you will get your money back or reels. I so sorry about that. The only way you might have a chance is the police thru there internet fraud dept. Better business is not much help. Most of the internet groups can do really anything. Try small claims court...I hope you win...

    oldandinthe way,

Well, I'm not surprised that I'm not the only one to get screwed over by this company. The thread you linked has much info, Thanks you thank you!

    Marvingj,

I have never converted before, and don't know anybody who has. I felt really in the dark in choosing a company, and knew I was taking a risk. I got burned, and I'm somewhat to blame for being a noob. However, with the info you guys have offered, I most definitely will be contacting a layer, and the proper authorities. I figure I'm willing to spend about 4k to get those reels back.

You guys rock! I so wish I had found this site before now. I'll post into that other thread whatever progress I make.

    Thanks Again!!!

Have you had any luck getting your tapes back or a response? I am in the same situation. I sent 10 Hi8 tapes and paid $230. No reponse from my calls and emails in over 2 months. Did not file a BBB complaint yet but if that is what it takes. SouthportMom

I wish I had checked this site out before I sent $ and film to them. I got one DVD back with original VHS along with a Tai Bo DVD and original VHS. I was suppose to get a data DVD too, so I could edit on my mac. I am trying to get in touch with them and have sent back the Tai Bo stuff along with a letter promising a BBB and credit card report on their services.
Initially I was impressed as I received the packing for my material and it was returned in a timely fashion....a little surprised when I viewed the Tai Bo instead of family film.

Videosilo is either a scam, or a supremely sloppy "business" (term used loosely) operated by morons.

Yes, I send in a tape, was billed for both the CD and a computer readable version. They lost my tape, no refund provided. Support group unresponsive and just passes the buck to a unreachable distribution site. Totyally incompetant organization. I hope they're out of business soon.

I think WE need to organize and send a mass of messages to the BBB and to ? who approves web sites and internet businesses. My goal this week is to file my BBB report to (I believe I'm remembering) Ilinois.
