Virtual dub help

please help- cannot figure it out !

I just want to apply virtualdub filter to a portion of my video- either avi or mpeg, but not the whole clip. then I want to save it- but virtualdub either applies to the whole clip or seperates out the selected clip and just save thst small section.

how do I use a filter on a selection of a clip and then recombine my whole clip ?

I don't know I directly way, too,
but a way that will work.

1. Split in 3 pieces
2. perform on the 2. piece
3. join pieces.

after splitting, you can make a batch
to do the rest.
