Had to format hard drive and reinstall all software and now having some conversion issues I never had before. I am converting an .avi file to a MPEG using TMPGEnc Plus.
However, the output video seems to end up 3x longer than the original avi with the last frame frozen and repeated for a long period
e.g. 5 minute avi becomes 5 min + 10 mins of last frame = 15 min MPEG
Never had this problem before, but I have tested with a different avi and got the same result.
I have tried doing as an elementary video stream mpv , but the same thing happens (I can do the audio fine with Besweet though).
Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance
Jub

A little searching would have a found quite a few references to this. Usually the cause is VBR MP3 audio. You can fix it by replacing it with a CBR or PCM version of the audio using virtualdub. The sticking in the Newbie Conversion forum regarding audio sync explains how to do this.
Read my blog here.

VBR MP3 in the source AVIs? That usually throws TMPGEnc off the track, resulting in symptoms like you describe.

Alternatively you can use source range under settings -> advanced.
