I'm just curious how i would go about making a mix video from all my dvd movies so i can make a sort of clipshow to upload onto YouTube. On YouTube people upload clip videos from movies and tv shows all the time, I'm just wondering exactly how you'd go about doing this. In other words, I'd like to make a sort of show of clips from all my favorite movies.

VERY IMPORTANT! I'm NOT at all a computer techy kind of guy, but my brother is. I don't know much about hardware or computer stuff. If there is anyone out there who can sort of give me a step by step idiot explanation of this I'd really appreciate it. Please, I advise you that if you want to help me, talk to me like I'm a complete moron - I mean that literally. I really don't know enough about this stuff.

I have a pretty decent computer that can burn CD's and DVD's. It's an Hp Pavillion, AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+, 2.41Ghz, 1.43 GB of RAM. And just a regular DVD player. thanks,

    -Sergio

Clips from DVDs? First you need to get the DVD files onto your computer. If they are not encrypted, or not commercial DVDs, you can just copy them to the hard drive. Or you can use DVDFab decrypter and copy most DVDs, even some encrypted ones.

Then there are quite a few methods, depending on what format output you want. For freeware, you can use VirtualDub Mod and it can read the VOBs from the DVD files directly, edit out the wanted clips and convert to a format that YouTube should accept. You may need to install the AC3 ACM Decompressor to read the audio.

There are lots of guides for VirtualDub Mod at the bottom of the tool page: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VirtualdubMOD

You can also do a forum search for 'YouTube' and find quite a few posts about the formats needed, etc.

    And welcome to our forums.

None of the DVD's I'd wanna burn would be non-commercial, they're all pretty much standard Hollywood movies. And yes, I'd want to just take clips from each of them, not the entire movie. This seems really difficult and expensive, I'd probably need some kinda techy with me while I'm doing it to help me. thanks for the response, and please feel free to elaborate further.
