Today i received my Sony DVP-NS76H VD player with HDMI upscaling to 720p/1080i, i connected it to my Evesham through HDMI and set it all up, tried all HD settings on the Sony 1920x1080i, 1280x720p and AUTO, but EVERY time when i hit the info button on my TV it tells be it is in 576p, there is a setting on the Sony for this and 480i, but no matter what i set it to my TV doesn't want to go above 576p. Any reason why it would be doing this, i have read the manuals, although the Evesham manual i have shows lots of stuff my TV has, so as far as i know its the incorrect manual, and i can't find any on the web, not even on Evesham's website.

I also have connected through Component cables my Nintendo Wii through Scart my Freeview box, but thats it.

    Cheers.

I have read conflicting information concerning upconversion. It is my understanding, that commercial discs cannot be upconverted. I've also read that they can, and I've read some players will and some won't. So take your pick, maybe someone here knows for sure, I tend to believe that they cannot.

As for your TV, the specs show a resolution of 1366x768. Being an LCD, any input that isn't 1366x768, either gets upconverted or downconverted to match your screen resolution. So it will be a matter of finding out which hardware does better upconversion, the dvd player or the TV. I would expect the closer your input is to the native resolution, the better the picture. But the only way to know for sure is trial and error.
