    Hi,
I have been using ffmpegX for several years now without any problem. Today how ever, I'm not able to convert my avi's to dvd. I can't even try the preview or play option. When I push these buttons, for a second the window opens where I usually see my piece of movie but after 1 second it closes again. Only at the tab 'filters' I get a message, saying:
'Eror locating symbol - dlcompat: Symbol "_JVTDecoOpen" not found'

I have tried several avi's, also avi's which I already converted to DVD

I removed my ffmpegX and re-installed it.

    Nothing works.

    Can you help me please?

Are you by any chance running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and QuickTime 7.1.5? The "_JVTDecoOpen not found" error seems to be related to the latest QuickTime update on some systems.

1'm experiencing the same problem re. preview, running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and QuickTime 7.1.5? Mplayer shows the same error message before quitting. "_JVTDecoOpen not found". The Apple discussion forum has a thread on QT 7.1.5 update. It appears that several programs are not compatible. Hope ffmpegx developer will fix this for us people still on Panther. Thanks.

Yes, now you mentioned it ... it was directly after my latest quicktime-update

    ...what now?

  5. Are you on Intel or PPC? On my computer (Intel iMac) I don't get any errors after the Update to Quicktime 7.1.5.

I'm on PPC G4. 10.3.9. So far, it still will convert to XVID. I tested a MP4 and a MKV file last night. Although there are no previews which is handy. Do you think updating to 10.4 on PPC will help? Thanks.

    I'm also using a PPC G4 10.3.9.

I noticed I can convert my avi's but I have to use frequently subtitles and without a preview-function this isn't handy for me.

Can I go back to Quictime before the upgrade?

    thanks

Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this but since it is related to Preview not working properly:

Here is the link to go back to Quicktime 7.1.3:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=886460&threadrate=1&messageid=4217942#4217942

Takes about 45 minutes depending on your system!
