Have downloaded a number of files with the extension nrg.001
    Eg:
    downloaded data.nrg.001
    downloaded data.nrg.002
    downloaded data.nrg.003 etc

Can someone please help a newby to translate this info, and burn a bootable CD containing these files
    (I have Nero 7)

    Thanks in advance

You could burn with Nero or ImgBurn.

Well I downloaded ImgBurn, then renamed all the files so that they would have an NRG extension instead of a number. Then created an ISO file with ImgBurn, then burnt the ISO file to CD. The result was a series of files with the NRG extension, not the real data, and certainly not bootable.

Can someone please give me a few pointers on how to burn these files to a bootable CD using either Nero 7 or ImgBurn

NRG is the suffix used by Nero disc images (basically the same as an ISO).

The .001, etc indicate it's been split into sections for storage or transport.

Most likely HJSplit was used to split it, and it can reassemble them.
    Get it from http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

You should then have one large NRG file which Nero can burn.
You can also open it as a file with various utilities, eg DaemonTools.

What confuses me, is why anyone would download files they don't know what to do with...
