Since it appears MACROVISION is the culprit in capturing from external DVD player via my ATI all in wonder (will try the SIMA device), does this also mean if I have an internal DVD player in my computer, I have the same issue ???

Sorry if this is a newbie question but the MAcrovision issue is bugging me.

  2. I don't think its the same, when playing it through a dvd player. Also, why don't you just rip the damn thing. You won't lose so much quality!

What the heck do you mean ? Yes, I have read the directions here (I am not a complete newbie to video capture) but I THOUGHT you first had to have a complete file.

PLEASE someone explain what you mean. Do you mean INTERNAL player somehow ? Not external machine certainly. I mean I have seen posts and instructions about DIVX files and conversions, etc.....But no one has said EXACTLY what they mean about capture.

So let me organize thought here...

    1) Do you mean use a tool to RIP the DVD file from an INTERNAL play ?
    2) You don't mean external capture ?
    3) Following the advice on DIVX ripping, I just treat the DVD rom drive as any other drive and follow the instructions like its a file ???

Thanks to any who can be patient enough to answer...Rob
