    I use VirtualDub Mod for that. Open the Xvid video. Use the 'Add' in the 'Streams>Stream list' to add your AC3. If you already have a audio file there, move your new audio to the top, then select your old audio and click 'Delete'. Then save both the audio and video as a 'Direct stream copy'. This only takes a few minutes.

    BTW, if your original audio file is MP3, you won't gain anything from this, except a larger file. If you are converting a MPEG to a Xvid, first you will need to demux or save out the audio, then add it back later. VDM can do that also.

    Or you can just convert the MPEG to Xvid with VDM and it will keep the original AC3, if that's what it contains. You may need the AC3 ACM Decompressor to open the file.
