  1. Hi guys,

I am very new here and hopefully posting this in the right place. I bought a refurbished HP Media Centre computer. Everything works fine, except for the video card. Even the card works, but the media center pc comes with a built in connector for rca video (yellow, white and red). WHen i plug this to my TV it doesnt work. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I've checked drivers and they are up to date.

This is my computer: HP Pavilion Media Center m7790y series

    Thanks,
    Bir

Assuming you have a XP version of Windows, you need to go to 'Control Panel>Display>Settings' You should see two monitors displayed there. The TV would usually be the one to the right. Make sure your TV is plugged in to the computer and set to receive from the computer video source. Check 'Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor'.

That should get your desktop to show on the TV. You may have to adjust the settings for the TV there also. Try 800 X 600 first, then higher settings.

If you then click 'Advanced', you can go to 'Adapter' and check 'List All Modes' and you may find some better settings, specific to TV output. Your video card manual should have given you all this info.

BTW, composite video out to a TV won't look too good. S-video, Component, DVI (Or HDMI) will be improvements, in that order.
