    hi

any software out there that will enable me to restore audio for free?

    (AVI file)

essentially i've got background noise such as wind and laughter that i'd like to reduce as much as poss and i've never done it before.

i do have premiere 6.5 but i cant see anything in there that will do that kind of thing.

    cheers

You'd need an audio editing tool, a good knowledge of how to use it and a good understanding of how to adjust audio files.

A decent free audio editor is Audacity.

A lot of wind noise is in the lower frequencies. Good luck trying to remove that stuff. That's why a lot of boom microphones have an attachment that looks like a fur hat - wind noise reduction before it gets recorded. So difficult to do it after the fact....
