DVI/HDMI

I have a sony television [KP-46WT500] with a scientific Atlanta 8300 HD cable box. I recently attached a DVI/HDMI cable to these devices.When I tune into the HD channels, I get a screen that reads "DVI/HDMI copy protected" ,"signal blocked push exit!".The box is set to the appropriate DVI/HDMI settings and has been re-booted several times to no avail.Is this a cable company problem or should I contact Sony for their input?Did I miss setting something up in the cable box? Thanks for the replies.

Start by calling the cable company.

I've hooked up the 8300HD (Time Warner) with HDMI to similar Sony displays for family friends. I forget the exact menu settings. Make sure your settings are for HDMI out.

Cable companies control all this with their system settings. Ask them for help first and tell us what they say.

Here is a follow up to my original question.The cable company did some upgrading to their system recently which disabled their dvi/hdmi settings.As of 3/15, this problem still existed. Time will tell when the system correction goes into effect.

My experience was with Time Warner back in July to Dec 2006. In July they weren't supporting any of the 8300HD unique features you had to use analog component. Toward the end of the year HDMI worked but audio was muted on S/PDIF if HDMI was used. By my Christmas visit, they had HDMI with audio possible on S/PDIF. Keep after them.
