More information would be helpful. You are capturing VHS to your computer. What card or method are you using for that and what program? What kind of noise? Hum? Describe the 'noise'. Are you capturing the audio through your audio card? What format are you capturing to? What program are you playing it back with?

    And welcome to our forums.

are you sure you are not plugged into your mic in - instead of line level in ?

if you were in the mic input you would get the sound also - but overload the mic preamp stage and get often such a noise

If it's as BJ_M suggested - and it sounds like it to me, too: Careful or you might damage the sound board on the computer. As he said, make certain you're connected to the audio in on the computer, not the mic in.

Not good - you've gotta be getting interference from somewhere. Have you tried a different audio cable? You may have to add some ferrite cores to the line.

It kinda sounds like you have one of the audio channels plugged into a 'video out' signal from the vcr. If you are listening to the output from a pair of speakers that don't have a good stereo separation, you would hear a sharp buzzing noise, and the other audio channel together.

    Just a thought.
