  1. Ok, I have VirtualDub on my older PC, I was just trying to simply install it onto my other(newer, faster) PC. I have it installed and working fine. But I need these codecs installed as well and can't figure out where to put them.

    These are the codecs...

    Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1
    FOURCC code: mpg4
    Driver Name: mpg4c32.dll

    Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2
    FOURCC code: mp42
    Driver Name: mpg4

I have them installed already on my older PC they work and I am using the same version of VirtualDub on both PCs.

The problem is I can't remember where to put the files at. There is a 'plugin' folder within the Virtualdub files, but it only accepts .vdf files and the files are MPG4C32.dll and mpg4ds32.ax so they won't work there. I even tried putting them there anyways and it didn't show up in VirtualDub. I went back to my old PC(where they are already installed) and they weren't in that plugin folder either. So I went to my harddrive>windows>system and tried putting them there. Still didn't work. Again, checked the windows>system folder on my older PC and they weren't there either.

I did a windows search(entire PC) for the filename mpg432C.dll and it didn't find any other locations of the file other than the original. I have checked help files for Virtualdub and searched these forums with no luck.

Do you guys have any idea where these frickin' files go so that I can get these codecs to work?!?!

    Thanks!!!

  2. Yeah, that makes sense as to why I couldn't figure out where to put them. I remember having to install it like that now.

    Thanks for the help!

Could also use ffdshow. Should also point out that technically they aren't MPEG-4.
