    hi guys im new to this forum and i hope u can help me,
    i wanted to connect my laptop (acer aspire 5611) to my tv so i purchased an s-video to rca (my tv dosnt have an-s video input) adapter and connected them both and i can see the desktop on the tv and it plays video files fine the problem is that its all in black and white !! i cant get colours on the tv i tried to play with the colour setting on the pc card but when i select tv from the menue every thing is disabled (i.e u cant change any value) so i'd really appriciate it if u can help and tell me whts wrong and how to fix it ?

    Not all of these cables actually connect s-video to composite. All you are getting is the luma signal, hence non-colour.

    thanx guys fro the replies, i tried changing the system from pal to ntsc but no use, any other suggestions !! i would really appreciate it ,thanx . ps what is a luma signal ?

    composite mixes the colour and brightness (luma) into one signal. s-video separates them out. Component takes the separation even further. The cable you have used is only passing the brightness down the line, but no colour. It is only an s-video cable with an RCA head at one end, not a converter.
