  1. The new version of ffmpegX 0.0.9x r2 won't recognize my usual avi, ogm or mkv files. I have updated all three binaries. Can anyone offer suggestions? Help!?!

Damn, I read "new version" and was euphoric for a moment. Oh well.

With regards to your problem, what do you mean by won't recognize? If you revert to the previous version, does it work as expected?

  3. Hi there and I appologize for missleading you into thinking I tried ffmpegX v.1.

    I am using a MacPro 2x2.66 Dual-Core Intel-Xeon with 1GB RAM.
I tried installing the latest version of ffmpegX 0.0.9x r2 exactly as directed on the website with the 3 binary components. It opens up no problem but it won't recognize OGM and MKV files. Even some AVI files are not recognized! I'm trying to get all files compatible for iMovie by converting them into AVI XviD to create Chapters within each episode and then tranfering it all into iDVD and burn a regular DVD for a standalone DVD player.

I had to stick with an older version of ffmpegX 0.0.9u which recognizes all my files as MOV for now but only if I run it from my desktop instead of the Application Folder.
    This is all weird!
Everytime I want to use it I have to reinstall the first binary (mpeg2enc) but it seems to work...
Is there a way I could get the newest version to work from within the Applications forlder?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Rio.

What is the error message you're getting?

I don't see why running it from your desktop should make a difference. Anyone else care to comment?

  5. Hi bucho,

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned, after I downloaded and installed ffmpegX 0.0.9x r2 from this site and along with the 3 binaries, I tried it but it would indicate UNRECOGNIZED in the Source format window as if the container was empty (not recognizable). I then installed trashed it all and started fresh with a previous version (ffmpegX 0.0.9u) and got the same result. BUT, when I then tried running that previous version by double clicking its .dmg and starting it from my desktop (without copying it into my Apps folder) then ffmpegX 0.0.9u reads the same files (and recognizes them as MOVs) and I'm able to convert them into AVI XviDs. I do need to reinstall the mpeg2enc binary everytime I use it after Starup of my MacPro. Unfortunately, since I am not as technically qualified and inclined as lot of you experienced people out there, I am at a loss of explanations for what is happenning in my case but I would love to solve my it. Can anyone help me further?

PS: I'm also hoping that someone could help me with another question I have posted...What are B-frames and Trellis quantization in mencoder XviD options and what are they used for?

    Rio.
