    Im confused..

i have XP installed on my HTPC which played everything flawlessly. AC3/DTS over S/PDIF worked a treat and the amp changed and played the streams.

However, my installations stopped playing xvids, and explorer crashed on clicking on them etc, etc, (reinstall of xvid didn't help), anyway decided to install new XP, so its clean, fast and none of the crap from before (when it wasn;t a HTPC)

I installed a new version along side the current to save any headaches.

So installed XP, xvid, codeavc, MPC. Installed all the sound drivers etc etc..

However, when i play a movie it will NOT output DTS/AC3 via optical, even though I have compared the settings on the 2 machines..

What im finding is that if i (in MPC) select filter, DTS, AC3 and try and put them to use S/DPIF, on restart it says it missing a codec?

This doesn't make any sense.. anyone got any ideas at all..
