defrag/power cal.

After I decrypt a movie to my "C'" drive I find between 200 and 300 fragmented files. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? I burned about 10 movies with no problems and now I am having problems with "Power Config. Error" messages. In DVD Shrink the dvd drive will run for 5 sec. and then power down. DVD Shrink just keeps on running as though all is ok. Are the two problems interrelated? I have tried several types of media and even installed a new burner, Sony DVD RW DRU 830A. My old burner is a NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD. I have set the Sony as the master and the Nec as the slave, second IDE port. Still have power/burn problems. I have updated to the latest firmware. I set the Sony asthe master now with no slave on the second IDE port. Same results. Can any one please help me? And yes I am new to burning DVD`s and this forum. I think I earlier posted this message in the wrong area. For that I appoligize. I hope I have this one in the right place. Thanks
