  1. A simple consideration:
my 3 standalone dvd player won't play a mp3 file stored in dvd disks (of course all 3 players can play mp3 file in cdr).
So, I make a simply dvdvideo autoring with a black screen (encoded like videos) for full time and 2.0 audio encoded in pcm format.

But i ask if exist a very simple software (free preferred) for replace a blank screen with an another simply static image (of course encoded like video) just a title information of track and/or artist and/or title album (or any other information provided by mp3-tag or by user).
Of course this image waste a space on DVD, but is not a problem trash 10 or 22 mega (500 pics, one for songs?) on 4.7 gigas!
    All automatically,of course!

(and an idea... and if in this static screen show time (including remaining) on the screen upgraded every second? and place a next/previous icon with a name of previous/next title)?

(maybe an image can display what I write in my awful english... please see attach)

I think is no so strange request and not so difficolt to create...

  2. For just 'show the image' with title information of track and/or artist and/or title album, you can try my GUI for dvdauthor. It's free and quite easy to use. You need to transcode your mp3 files to wav or ac3 or mp2 yourself of cause. For such 'DVDs' please use muxman as 'authoring engine'.
The 'show time (including remaining)' would need much more space, as one still picture would be required for each half second (except as subtitles, but that would complicate the matter further). For next/previous icons, the same applies. The technique could be BOVs, but these are 'hard' to use and would also exclude the possibility to use subtitles for other purposes.

  3. Thanks for reply.

    Now I try you apps.

For time.... is an idea, not absolutely.
I don't think it waste a lot of space (more than one static picture, of course, but not too expensive) because DVD are based on MPG2 encoding, and this method (as all video compression mpeg based) save just a difference between frames, and in a computer-generated static images, difference are minimal, just, in effect, changing time.
If course every tot frames a complete picture are saved but not like and action movies!.
And the static picture is composed by wide area with same color (filled color, not gradient) so JPEG picture compression is best used.
And, at last, we can choose a video compression, of course so aggressive because picture is not significative.

....But you speak about subtitle... and in effect i never thing about this option... very interesting... it is possible make a text lirycs or another information, i meanwhile in semi-automatic by software.
Winamp already have a plug-in download a lyrics on Internet and show on screen during playback, so is not so far to create like subtitling information...

At last NEXT/PREVIUOS icons... I mean about ICON but I don't want a interactive object... is just a portion image in video.
    THERE ARE NOT ACTIVE BUTTON!
Just for DVD autorhing software they are ojbect with propriety (color, width, ecc) but when it create a mpeg video, it merge with background and rest of images (text too now is an unique picture).
In all DVD player ">>" button skip to next tracks, so if we put on static image those icon associated at next track, virtually recreate a interactive function but in effect is not true!
Is an embedded function of DVD compliance!

I hope understand my bad english.

Take a look at Audio DVD Creator... You can do it all by hand, using most DVD authoring apps, but it'll take some work and time.

Is there a way to do this with some sort of full time "jukebox player" style grafic that you can use as a controller of the audio tracks?

Like I said, you can do this with most DVD authoring apps (like DVD-Lab Pro), making it work just the way you'd like it to, but you'll have to be prepared to spend quite some time getting your audio and video assets ready first. I think there's a guide for it somewhere here.
