After I decrypt a movie to my "C'" drive I find between 200 and 300 fragmented files. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? I burned about 10 movies with no problems and now I am having problems with "Power Config. Error" messages. In DVD Shrink the dvd drive will run for 5 sec. and then power down. DVD Shrink just keeps on running as though all is ok. Are the two problems interrelated? I have tried several types of media and even installed a new burner, Sony DVD RW DRU 830A. My old burner is a NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD. I have set the Sony as the master and the Nec as the slave, second IDE port. Still have power/burn problems. Can any one please help me? And yes I am new to burning DVD`s and this forum. Thanks

Do you mean 'power calibration error'? That's usually a hardware related error internal to the burner. It's either a problem with the burner or the media. But if you changed burners and media and still get it, I would check your power supply. If it's marginal, it can cause PCEs.

If you just have the one hard drive for video and boot, I would think about adding a second one. The boot drive has to move system files around at times. If you use up a lot of the hard drive space with video, you may have some fragmentation problems. Generally large file storage shouldn't contribute to fragmentation. It's more common with lots of small files that are moved around, added to, and deleted.

EDIT: Your HD seems to have minimal fragmentation. I wouldn't pay much attention the the number of fragments, just the percentage. My laptop shows 5% fragmentation and I just reformatted and reinstalled the OS a few days ago.

I have also locked the other post. If you wish to move a topic, PM a Mod. Please don't double post.

Thank you for all the help. I have taken your advise and I added a 320 G hard drive that I devote to burning movies only. I am sorry to be so lame but I can not find the link to no longer ask people to respond to my Question. Can you direct me?
Thanks again for the help, Jerry
