I got a slow PC. I will get a new one but i just cant right now so i stick with the P3 800mhz 512mb XP. The problem with this pc is, it cant play video codec that is in very high quality. Like those H264.
So, I thought that if I convert this file to dvd, I will be able to watch them. That is the problem. I cant find a very suitable and easy to use app that can convert h264.
Why use this codec anyway? Its not much different than using XVID in very high bitrate. So many apps out there and so little of them support h264.
This file was originally in MKV. I'm going to extract it using Mkvextract but some warning in this "i dont know" language comes up.
"Erreur d'insertion de ligne RichEdit"
What happened? Help please.

Do you know why people mostly use Mac in their office?
Because a lot of stress can lead people to jump off the "Windows". -
I read that DivXtoDVD can do this type of conversion. Super may be able to do it also. There seem to be very few ways to do this. Be warned that the conversion may take a long time on your PC.
I have a PC with a 3200+ AMD chip and it can't play H264 very well either. Only if I play the files with VLC Player is it almost normal. I consider H264 too bleeding edge at this time to be of much use for most of us, but the codec has a lot of neat features that should allow for higher quality at lower bit rates than anything else to date. Probably 5 or more years from now many of us will have PCs that are powerful enough to easily deal with it and then these H264 encoded files will look pretty good to us. -
I can play H264 with VLC but with major lag. And Super huh..? I heard that Super have a bug that install some file into windows directory and stays there even when you're uninstall the software.
Besides, Super convert files at really slow speed. Converting into DVD is much more faster. Hours and hours of hard work but the video is only 30 minutes.
Is there any other MKV extractor other that Mkvextract? I still get that "Erreur d'insertion de ligne RichEdit" error message. -
AFAIK if your P3 800 mhz can't play very high quality of h264 then it won't convert either, coz convert request decoding process same as while playing the video.

Before, I succesfully convert h264 into xvid without those "erreur bla..bla..RichEdit" warning. But this stupid me deleted the converter because i dont think i gonna download any h264. now i dont remember what converter that i use before cos i've downloaded this h264......but its a good video.
I'll start with extracting the MKV. Still got those warning. Problem with files maybe? Is there any other MKV extractor?
And i also have this MKV with a video without any extension name. I know its a h264 (because the file name says so). MKVextract ask me to put extension name. What should i put? AVI? H264?Do you know why people mostly use Mac in their office?

prof_unto: Yes, VirtualDubMod can handle MKVs, but its MKV support is a little dated (and the latest version will likely warn you about that), and doesn't correctly handle certain types of streams in MKVs, such as AVC video. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
