  1. What's the best mobo for core 2 duo E6600 that i am gonna buy in about a month's time??

I need integrated graphics - preferably nvidia 6200 > 6150 > 6100. That's all fine. Anythin better wud be finer. But i am on budget - want mobo within 135$.

    + i guess gigabyte mobos r the best ( 965 series ) - but do these viz. GA 965 - DS3 - has onboard video too?

    Any other suggestions ??

I don't know if there's such thing as S775/C2D board with integrated graphics. The 6100/6150 were both AMD based chipsets, for S939/AM2 platforms. The 6200 is a discrete card, the line witht he 'Turbo Cache' crapola (read: akin to integrated graphics where it shares memory duties w/ your system RAM). I'm not sure that nvidia ever came out with an Intel based part. Your best best is getting a decent, cheap board, and a cheap PCIe graphics card (~6200 may be fine for you I don't know I game so I spend $$ there ) - just something for 2d work, since I assume you don't need it for any gaming reasons.

btw the DS3 is from my understanding one of the better S775 board, esp for the price -- and it overclocks nicely to boot. Beyond that, if you MUST have integrated graphics, you will likely need to go for an Intel chipset based board. As to what the codes and any makers of board with such setups, I don't know...I'm more of an AMD person.

  4. I just dont game like a freak n mostly use my pc for encoding + editing + net surfing. Thats why i wanted to avoid pricey graphic cards.

Just want all mobo + graphic needs fulfilled inside that 130$ kinda range hence.

But i cant go for bad or inferioir quality still. Want good mobo.

Does Asus P5B mobo solve the integrated graphics for me - viz, does it have integ video?

You can buy a PCI-E video card for $40 and even at that level it will be better than any onboard video is likely to be. The Gigabyte DS3 is your best choice and has no onboard video.

There are ample reviews on the Asus P5B out there. It is a last year board. Asus and GigaByte are good names if you don't want to read Tom's Hardware, Anandtech or other motherboard review sites.

If you are looking to save money, the E6400 is still the sweet price.

Any more upper models at what ?

    Also, is Gigabyte DS3 n ASUS P5B compatible with 1.9 V DDR2 800 MHz ? Or shud i stay with DDR2 667 Mhz only ?

If I were to buy a video card today ... without games being a consideration ... then I would get the Nvidia 7600GT graphics card. Why? It is the slowest (and therefore cheapest) Nvidia chipset to support (100% support that is) the Nvidia PURE VIDEO functions.

NEWEGG.COM is a popular website for computer related hardware purchases and looking there just now one can find a Nvidia 7600GT for as low as $110 and as high as $204 with most being in the $120 - $140 range. Please note that these are US Dollar prices.

    P.S.
This Nvidia 7600GT is also A-OK for use with Windows Vista.

We only have experience with the cards we have. We can't tell which is best. For that you need to read the motherboard reviews and then google for user experiences.

I like FulciLives' recommendation of the 7600GT card. It'll work in the newer environments and it has Purevideo acceleration. You won't regret it because you'll have exactly what you need.

I was looking at buying a video card around the end of the year to match a new LCD I bought and the 7600GT was what I decided to get ... I got the monitor but still no new video card (my current old video card had DVI out and supported the resolution I needed so ...)

I just wanted to add that a lot of the 7600GT cards have rebates now on NEWEGG.COM so some of those cards are as low as $100 or so after the mail-in rebate.

In fact I just may finally get a 7600GT myself once I get my tax return back ...

Something like the Intel DQ965GF might be suitable for you
    http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DQ965GF/index.htm
You should be able to find it for $125 - $135. Amazon have it for $129.50

    FYI,
If you plan on doing encoding, you will regret using integrated video.
I wasn't getting the en/decode speeds I was expecting from my box,
I also happen to use QuickPar to build recovery data into my DVDs.
While repairing a recent par set I noticed that I was getting sub-par
memory transfer rates. < 200mb/s..... I put in a dumb old GeForce
board (don't need 3D) and the memory transfer rates went into the
350mb/s range. These numbers are all according to QuickPar.

So, if you want to let the video sap a third of your memory bandwidth
get integrated video. But, I'll bet you'll be better off getting a cheaper
motherboard and separate low end video. It might cost a bit more,
but if you are springing for the 6600 why skimp on an extra $20-$30.

    Just my thoughts ....
