I hooked my DVD player (Pioneer DV-414) to my input on my ATI all in wonder capture card. I set the input to composite, press play, I get a beautiful picture.

When I record, it still plays fine but the resulting file is a frozen screen of whatever I first started record. The very top of the screen (1/8 inch) seems to have the movie going by.

Is this part of copy protection scheme or do I have a setup problem ?

Thanks in advance....It is probably a newbie "Hey, you can't do that " question but I had to ask.

DVDs are copy protected by macrovision, is macrovision off on your DVD player ?
for me that seems to be the problem, find out how to turn the macrovision off your DVD player or ATI card.
