I have 22 avis xvid format that are about 460mb on average. There is no way that I can split them up in order to get them to fit on 2 dvd's 4.7gb dvd's.

I would like to find a batch conversion tool that will allow me to input those avis and then reencode them down to like the 350-360mb range. I would like to change the bitrate or tell it the target size in order to achive this.

I can do it with virtual dub but it has to be done one avi at a time as far as I can see. I just want to be able to get half of the avis on one dvd and the remaining avis on another dvd. I want to maintain the xvid format and everything else about the video.

Can someone point me in the correct direction for doing this in a batch format instead of one at a time.

autogk or avi recomp. add each avi, set output file size, add to the job list and encode all.

You can batch encode in Vdub.
When selecting save as avi look for a tick box named "don't run this job now; add to job control.."
Press F4 to start job control.

Of course you have to manually configure avis one by one, but that's a matter of seconds.
I guess AutoGK would allow you to smack them all under a template.

I just tried the Vdub way and it errored out on me saying statsfile not found.

I guess I will go back to avirecomp and do it that way. Takes 30 mins an avi so 10 hrs to convert 22

You need to run the first pass before the 2nd.
You could also try mencoder or xvidencraw (needs audio processed separately).

mencoder would be the easiest to re-encode 22 files to the same size since you don't need to set each encode up.

Those last 2 programs appear to be for linux from what I can tell. AutoGK is doing a good job of making them smaller. Its about 3-8 mins faster then avirecomp.

As for 1st pass before 2nd I am not sure how that would work. I just figured out my problem and it was that I was loading a predifined template that I made for each job and for some reason vdub didn't like it. It had no probs batch processing files if I set up the settings for each job manually and then go onto the next avi.

I think I will stick with Autogk for now it seems that it will take 26-30 mins an encode which is not that bad. I am running an amd fx 60 with 1gb of ram soon to be 2gb.
