  1. I'm starting to try and figure what type of equipment I need to do capture from VHS to VCD. There seems to be so many opinions and variables that it's a bit overwhelming. My system is as follows:

    P4 1.8ghz
    512 DDR ram
    Win 2000 Pro
    I have 2 Maxtor 60 gig ATA100 drives and 1 Maxtor 100 gig ATA 100.

Money isn't a major concern, but I'm not Bill Gates! I'm not sure if I need a hardware or software solution for my needs, the original VHS quality is good, they are factory made tapes. Any advice would be appreciated and if any other information is needed I will furnish it.

    Thanks!

  2. i'm new in capture business and i have try these 2 model

Ati tv(sorry) : Avi capture ( big file size and handling time )
vhs resolution , so i decide to change it

Ati all in wonder Radeon : avi, mpg1 , mpg2 high résolution
sVhs or neer Dvd capture , vcd direct
capture and if your systeme is new out
of box , it give you the opportunity to
save the video card from the retailer

with the systeme that you have , think about futur ( futur is mpg2,3,4!)

now i'm satisfy whit the capture , but I had to learn a lot about
system optimization , because capture sucks your systeme a lot !

finaly i lost as much time as if i had stay with Ati tv ( with optimisation ) , but the result is knowledge and great quality mpg2 capture.
