I got a free CyberHome 300 DVD player a few years ago and it worked fine, until I had to relocate it to a small bedroom tv unit that only has 1 yellow and red RCA connector. I connected the cables, but when I tried to play a disc, the screen would say that it was reading the disc, then a tiny QUESTION MARK would appear on the image of the disc (in the upper right corner) and the indictator light would flash red/green - VERY RAPIDLY.

I went to the SETUP menu and tried to change the video output mode to COMPOSITE VIDEO but that option was not available! Only "S video" and YCBCR (neither of which is correct).
So now that I only have the basic cable setup option, the player doesn't have that option!

I even tried the "LOAD SETUP DEFAULT" to restore the factory settings - no change. I tried the other way (what they said in the manual) by turning the unit off, turning it back on, then opening the disc tray and holding down the STOP button - that didn't work either!

How can I re-set the video output to COMPOSITE VIDEO?

Having several 300CH readers, the ? is not new to me. From my experience with the device, the ? indicates that the device is reading the disk but does not know what kind of disk it is. If you can see on the tv that the disk is doing something than the connections are okay.

My suggestions Clean the disk, try a new disk, disconnect electricity from the unit for awhile than reconnect. finally clean the laser on the drive.

Sometimes reinserting the disk over and over again will result in the device finally recognizing the disk.

I think it's hopeless...not only do I get that little ? in the upper right corner (dvd trying to read disk)with every disk I try (all factory/original disks - no bootlegs!) I cannot set the video connection (on the setup menu) to Composite Video Out because it isn't THERE anymore! My only two choices are "S-video" and YCbCr! And I also cannot get it back to factory settings - even by trying the LOAD SETUP DEFAULT.

The S-Video selection also will activate the composite outputs, as I just tested this the other day.

    Hi, All!
I have run into a problem with my Cyberhome CH-DVD 300, in that for no apparent reason the Remote sometimes refuses to work. Checked the battery, and it's A.O.K. I had the idea that maybe I could program one of my RCA "Universal" remotes to operate the basic functions of the DVD, but the problem is there are no Remote Codes listed for any of the Cyberhome products listed, in the RCA "Universal" Remote brochure, and I wasn't able to complete a successful "Code Search" with the RCA. Since my good wife "hogs" the original remote, (sniff!), it would be nice to have my own (RCA) remote working.
Does anyone know the Cyberhome codes? Sure could use some help!
    Thanks,
    Fred
