FairUse (AVI) videos cannot be converted to WMV.

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a bit of a problem. I use a program called FairUse (From: celtic_druid), but for some
reason I cannot convert the finished AVI to WMV using Windows Media Encoder 9. Could it be that
the 2nd pass maybe causing it? Do I need a special codec?

Here's the steps I took.

I converted the DVD to AVI using FairUse (DivX 6 codec) and imported it into Windows Media Encoder.
I than select the desired settings I want and click encode. I get the following error.

"Invalid or corrupted data"

Does anyone know how to solve this issue so that I can play the video in PowerPoint? I try using
the AVI in PowerPoint, but the result is a very crappy playback with skips in it.

Note: The AVI itself, plays perfectly fine in Windows Media Player.

I would use VOB2MPG on the DVD and try import the mpg in PowerPoint. If that wont work well you can convert the mpg to wmv with Windows Movie maker or Windows Media encoder.

I think I've figured this one out on my own. I went into the Windows Media Encoder plugins area
and saw something like "AVI Decompress". I enabled this plugin and the encoder finally worked.
Just to be on the safe side, I also selected 2nd pass for the WMV file.

I hope this information helps someone in the future.
