Remote Video Editing?

I have two questions.

Me and a friend want to work on a a project together that involves video editing. However, he lives in States and I in Canada. So I was wondering what are my options in terms of working remotely on this project. We are unable to "divide" it up and we would like a program/method in which we can access the project do some work, leave some notes as to what was done and such. I know of one method would be to use Microsoft Remote Desktop, im really not familiar with it and it seems unsafe. I have heard of other things such as Virtual Network Computing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Network_Computing) is this basically the same?

Also are there video editing programs that allow data project files to be transferred from person A to B. And when opened on person B the files that were used are then requested and you tell it where you have those same files (the video files) and it catches up to what was done. Such a thing exist


Question number 2: What is the best DVD-Authorer/Video Editor that allows MULTI-ANGLE production. So that at a given point , lets say 13:24 - 16:34 angle #2 is available if they click that button. Know what I mean?

Im a really bad e-explainer , I hope taht wasnt confusing.

Best video editor is open for debate - but Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas and Final Cut are very good - all will support multiangle editing / encoding ....

I hope you both have fast internet connections. Remote desktop can be slow. But it's worth a try.

For the editing data, maybe something like a project file that some editors may generate. Maybe one of our 'editor pros' can give you some ideas.
