I was wondering if there are any programs out there that will sync a photo with audio. I know there are a lot of programs that will sync the whole slideshow to a audio file (as in make each slide the same length) But I was wondering if there is a program that will time the transitions with the audio file.

I am working on a slide conversion project, so after the slides are scanned (into JPGs at the correct resolution), we rip the audio (from cassette to wav or MP3).

So we have both the slides and the audio already on the computer, we also have 2 separate tracks, one with the person talking about the slides, and a separate audio file with just beeps where I want the transitions.

Is there any program that will automatically sync a slide to each beep in the audio? I was thinking if there was a program that is normally used to time transitions to music, then it might work.

What we are doing now is loading it into premier or ulead, and both have audio waveforms, so we can match the transitions to the beeps pretty easily. But it takes about 15 minutes for each video file. We have more then 200 videos to create, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks for any help,
    Joe

The method you are using the only one I know of that is reliable. I use Vegas to do slideshows so I can get the right level of control.

  4. You can try to open the audio file with just beeps in Audacity. Then select all, use 'Analyse', 'Beat Finder...' from the menu and export the resulting 'Label Track' with 'Export Labels' from the file menu. In this file you should have a 'timecode' (as seconds) for each 'beep'. Maybe you can convert such a list in a format, which can be used within your slideshow creator.

Nice, thank you both for your help, I will try Audacity. I also haven't tried Vegas since it is so expensive, and you know how school's budgets are, I will download the trial now tho.

With the beat finder then it would be possible to use a better DVD authoring program, since we wouldn't need the audio waveform anymore, thank you verry much.

  6. If you need help for converting time codes, just ask...
I'm currently updating my GUI for dvdauthor to recognize NTSC drop frame and non-drop frame time codes correctly, therefore I'm just working with such functions...
