I have been creating DVD's for several years for my daughter's high school athletic teams. Most of the DVD's are going to parents and coaches. I currently use Pinnacle Studio 10 and have started to experiment with Sony Vegas 7 and DVD Architect 4. My problem is when I render and burn the DVD, the disk does not play back on all by DVD players. I currently use Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs and they seem to burn fine. I use a Sony DRU-710A DVD RW to burn the discs. I have the latest firmware update. I play back on two players: Pioneer DV-C503 and Sony SLV-D261P. The problem is the Sony player. The specs indicate it will playback DVD-R media, but it fails. I am also aware of some Toshiba players which will not play my DVD's. The disc is not even being read by the player. However, if I duplicate a commerical DVD on the same DVD-R media, it plays fine on all players including my Sony players. Why are my Pinnacle projects not playing on the Sony player when they are burned on a Sony DVD burner? Is there an incorrect setting in my software which is causing this problem?

I would really appreciate any suggestions to resolve this issue.

    Thank you

Interesting question. I was going to say that not all players will play burned discs, but you mention that when you back up a commercial DVD, all the players you tried will play them. But not the discs you have authored.

What audio format are you using for your authored discs? When you backup a commercial disc, what program do you use? You should be able to compare the two different discs by using Gspot 2.60, MediaInfo, MPEG Validator, MPEGProperties or similar programs. It may be something subtle, but well worth finding out.

I'm wondering also if you are using a different program to burn the two types of discs?

    And welcome to our forums.

I actually use Pinnacle to burn my projects that I have completed. The audio is combined with my video portion within the project. When I copied the commecial DVD, I used Nero to simply copy.
