I have a new Panasonic VDR D105, I cant get the Windows Movie maker to read the USB connnection, the camera says switch to USB mode which I cant seem to figure out to make it work.

I downloaded driver XPDRV5021NEN.exe but i get an error message trying to run it (cannot get drive Error code 071) no matter if i have the camera attached or in play mode or not atatched.

    Looking for help, thanks

Good Evening! I too, have been trying for weeks to figure this out! I bought my VDR-D105 in Feb. and had no luck connecting to the PC so I could load the DVD-Ram Driver. I spent a great deal of time with Panasonic Techs today and they could not resolve the problem. They said the USB Driver is in Windows XP!

After getting off the phone I had a thought! Recalling a still camera I once had ... I wondered if the USB port was not being powered by the camera battery, so I plugged in the AC Adapter.... BINGO!!!!!!! Connected!!! Proceeded to download the Ram driver and all is well!

    Enjoy!

thanks for your info. I followed what 'learning how's saying. it was successful until downloading driver and install it. however, my window movie maker still can not detect the device. so i called panasonic and spent so much time to get the model number for software that i need for this camcorder. it was LSFT 0643. however, i still can not fully trust techs at panasonic. they all sound nerds. is there any alternate way to figure this out without using their software?
